TV presenter and farmer JB Gill will head up a national search to find the champions of British game to reward their success, innovation and passion.
JB, formerly of pop group JLS, is the ambassador of the Eat Game Awards 2018. Nominations for the awards are now open.
The aim of the awards, which have been founded by Boisdale, Purdey and Taste of Game, is to identify and celebrate the ‘innovators, creators and revoultionaries’ in the wild game world.
Annette Woolcock from Taste of Game said: “The Eat Game Awards is a new movement to acknowledge wild game as a part of our heritage and recognise and develop game as a vibrant and modern addition to our food sources, encouraging the British public to discover and embrace this valuable food source.”
James Horne from Purdey said: “The consumption of game meat is a great joy. We are determined to broaden the awareness of the delights this meat brings and encourage its wider consumption across the UK. The awards are a tremendous way of recognising the significant breadth of game use and innovation that so many people, chefs, restaurants and companies have brought to our table.”
Ranald Macdonald of Boisdale said: “The eating of game is integral to the survival of the Great British countryside, the rural economy and our way of life. It is also delicious and nutritious. For everyone’s benefit we need to encourage the consumption of British game.”
The closing date for nominations is 28th September 2018. Online voting will open on 1st June until 30th August 2018. The awards will be held at Boisdale Canary Wharf in October 2018.
